Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival

end March / April
Vancouver, British Columbia

More than 36,000 cherry trees come into bloom each spring all over Vancouver during the annual Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival.

In celebration of this natural, annual event, the Cherry Blossom Festival offers special ways to enjoy the phenomenon including details about where to find the best locations to view cherry blossom trees, a planned bike ride through the blossoms, Cherry Trolley Tours, a Pink Tie Affair, Haiku Invitational, Haiku Gardens, self guided walks, a Cherry Jam Downtown concert, a BC Blossom Watch and more.

The Bike the Blossoms bike tour is one of the most popular events in the festival and features a planned cycle route along the most spectacular streets. Highlights of the route include the VanDusen Botanical Garden, Chinatown, Queen Elizabeth Park, West 7th Avenue from Yew Street in Kitsilano to Main Street in Mount Pleasant, Commercial Drive, Trafalgar, Balsam and Vine streets to the west of West Boulevard, and the Burrard Skytrain Station. The Bike the Blossoms event also includes stops along the way at independent bistros and bakeries.

Other events include informational talks in Stanley Park and Queen Elizabeth Park, at the VanDusen Garden and UBC, a seminar on picking cherries in and around Vancouver, musical presentations and the Haiku Invitational in which Haiku enthusiasts can join in the fun by writing and submitting a haiku about cherry blossoms until May 31st each year.
