Vancouver Folk Music Festival

3rd weekend in July
Vancouver, British Columbia

A popular Vancouver festival that began more than 30 years ago, the annual Vancouver Folk Music Festival takes place over eight outdoor stages at Jericho Beach Park on the west side of Vancouver.

The event begins on Friday evening when the gates open at 4pm and continues on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 9:30pm and performances run from 5pm to 11pm on Friday and from 10am to 11pm on Saturday and Sunday.

More than 1,300 volunteers come together each year to transform the park into one of the most exciting folk music festivals in the world and attracts more than 31,000 visitors over the three days of the event.

World class artists, performers, singer-songwriters and ethnic musicians from all over the world who have joined in the fun include Ani Difranco, Utah Phillips, Tuvan Throat singers, Sarah Harmer, Veda Hille, Feist, K'naan, and Ferron.

Located in the City of Vancouver, on 4th Avenue West, just west of Alma Street, Jericho Beach Park can be reached by public transit (about 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver). For those coming by bike, a popular option, supervised bicycle parking is available at the East Gate, close to West 4th Avenue. For those driving to the event, you will need to come very early to grab any of the few parking spaces available in the area.

To make the most of the festival, be sure to be prepared for the weather, rain and hot sunshine alike, and you should bring warm clothing for the evening concert as the stages are near the water and can get chilly at night.
