Founded in 2001, and now one of Canada’s leading film festivals, the annual Whistler Film Festival takes place at the end of November / beginning December at North America's premier destination mountain resort of Whistler.

Each year, the Whistler Film Festival presents a selection of more than 60 films from Canada and around the world, including premieres from some of North America’s top directors, and awards over $45,000 in prizes and commissions.

The awards include:

• Borsos Award for Best Canadian Feature presented by the Directors Guild of Canada BC ($15,000 cash prize)
• Best International Feature Film Award ($10,000 cash prize)
• Borsos Award for Best Actor and Actress
• Best World Documentary Award ($2,500 cash prize)
• Best Short Film Award ($1,000 cash prize)
• Best Mountain Culture Film Award presented by Whistler Blackcomb ($1,000 cash prize)
• Best BC Student Short Film Award ($500 cash prize)
• People's Choice Award for Best Feature (non-cash award)

The five-day Whistler Film Festival also features lively festival celebrations, tributes to distinguished filmmakers, a free outdoor screening and the annual Celebrity Challenge ski race.

Dedicated to celebrating, promoting and developing a strong film industry in Western Canada, and to showcasing the best films from Canada and around the world, this premier event also features innovative industry programming through a comprehensive business and creative forum for film, television and new media that takes place alongside the Festival and provides a full range of professional development, market and networking opportunities for filmmakers.

The Whistler Film Festival Society (WFFS) offers two main programs: the Whistler Film Festival - Whistler's annual celebration of film, and the Whistler Summit - Western Canada's premier industry forum.
