Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival

mid September
Fredericton, New Brunswick (NB)

Atlantic Canada's largest music festival, the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival is an annual music festival held in downtown Fredericton, in the heart of historic downtown, featuring blues, jazz, folk, rock and world music performed on 23 indoor and outdoor stages.

Founded in 1991, the festival is the largest musical event held in the city each year and attracts over 350 celebrated musicians from Canada and around the world including the like of Diana Krall and Oliver Jones, Americans Delbert McClinton and Dr John, and UK artists Davy Knowles and Sarah Jane Morris.

Music on offer includes everything from gritty acoustic and electric blues, to traditional and progressive jazz, rock, soul, Cajun/Zydeco and more. Free and ticket-only venues include a variety of forms from tents, to theatres, national historic sites, closed streets, pubs and clubs in an historic downtown Fredericton.

One of the many ways in which the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival sets itself apart from other such music events is in how Fredericton looks after the musicians by teaming them up with volunteer hosts who look after their every need. This warm, inviting and family-like atmosphere has earned the festival the nickname of “Pleasantville”!

The festival lasts 6 days.

Tickets for the Jazz & BLues Festival usually go on sale in May, 4 months ahead of the actual event in September.

Hotel accommodation is at a premium at this time of year and can become scarce very quickly. It is advisable to make reservations as far in advance as possible.
