Tuckamore Festival

St John's, Avalon, Newfoundland and Labrador (NL)

Offering an engaging mix of established world-famous talent and fledgling newcomers, the Tuckamore Festival of Chamber Music in St John’s is a two-week celebration of music and talent and has been a Newfoundland tradition since 2001

World renowned artists who have performed at Tuckamore Festival include Richard Raymond, the Avalon String Quartet, the Jupiter String Quartet, the St Lawrence String Quartet, Mark Fewer, Sharon Wei, Brett Polegato, Robert Kortgaard, Duo Concertante, Rennie Regehr, Vernon Regehr, and Jennifer Johnson.

The new talent emerging on the chamber music scene include winners of national competitions and students from some of North America's finest music schools including The Juilliard School, Glenn Gould School, Rice University, SUNY Stony Brook, University of Toronto and McGill University. The intensive program at the Tuckamore Festival offers these young musicians the opportunity to interact with so many internationally acclaimed artists in workshops, open rehearsals, private lessons and master classes.

Up to 25 talented string players and pianists are chosen annually to take part in the programs. Ensembles of these musicians are created out of the lucky contenders and during the festival they rehearse and perform together
