Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival

early August
Lunenburg, Nova Scotia (NS)

For more than 25 years, the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival, Nova Scotia's longest-running folk festival, and the second longest in Atlantic Canada, has featured the talents of local folk musicians, artists from across Canada and even from international shores, presenting the best in traditional and contemporary folk music..

Set against the stunning backdrop of the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lunenburg, the 4-day festival fills the streets of this historic town with music and good-natured revelry at a number of stage locations including the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic's wharf, the Heritage Bandstand, and St John's Anglican Church.

Extra activities include hands-on work shops in singing, songwriting, dancing and youth music programs in the churches and halls of Lunenburg. The Children's Stage offers children a wide range of activities from folk music performances tailored for a younger age, to author readings, and interactive arts and crafts.

The main stage in the big white tent on Blockhouse Hill is the focus of attention in the evenings and is a stunning venue with panoramic views of Lunenburg's harbours in the background.

The highlight of the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival is, for many, the Sunday morning gospel concert.

As well as organizing the Festival, the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Society also presents other events like the increasingly popular spring FolkFiesta, and a series of monthly concerts and bandstand concerts in the summer months.

There is a wide variety of ticket options, from the Festival Passes that offer full access to all events, to the self explanatory day passes and evening tickets. Tickets may be purchased on line at:
