The world’s largest annual indoor show, the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo features more than 2,000 world-class Canadian and international military and civilian performers, from countries all over the world, including Canada, England, Estonia, Germany, Oman, Scotland, Switzerland, Wales, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway, and Denmark.







First staged in 1979, when Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother opened the original Nova Scotia Tattoo, it became the Nova Scotia International Tattoo in 1984 and on the occasion of her 80th Birthday in 2006, Her Majesty The Queen changed the name to the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo.

Having earned a reputation as one of the world's premiere cultural and entertainment events, the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo continues to grow with both audience size and participants.
The fast-paced, two-and-a-half hour family show features music, dance, acrobatics, drama and comedy in a number of innovative acts including pipes & drums, military and civilian bands, historic re-enactments, dancers, acrobats, choirs, military displays and competitions, drama and comedy.

The Tattoo is held annually at the Halifax Metro Centre (a modern, air-conditioned arena located in the very heart of Downtown Halifax) during the first week of July.

As well as the show at the Halifax Metro Centre, the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo festival also presents free noon-time concerts, other performances and parades at various venues about the city during the run of the show.
