Stratford Shakespeare Festival

June to end October
Stratford, Ontario (ON)

One of the most important arts festivals in Canada, the Stratford Shakespeare Festival is an internationally recognized annual celebration of theatre running from April to November in Stratford. Bringing the works of William Shakespeare (and others) to life on 4 stages, the Stratford Shakespeare Festival is known worldwide for its productions.

A hugely popular event since 1953, many of the greatest English speaking actors from all over the world take part in the festival and provide an impressive line-up of talent. Many highly regarded playwrights too join the ranks of fans of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival.

Although the Festival's primary mandate is to present the plays of William Shakespeare, and typically a third of the productions each season are dedicated to the bard, a number of other productions also take place, including classical and contemporary works and the obligatory musical.

The Stratford Shakespeare Festival is listed as a Major Festival in the book “Shakespeare Festivals Around the World”.

Just two hours west of Toronto, in the city of Stratford, the Stratford Shakespeare Festival has been voted as one of the "Top 10 Culture & Sightseeing Destinations in Canada.

There are a number of ticket options, from balcony seating for $29; $25 tickets for those aged between 16 and 29; family packages that offer savings up to 68%; 50% discounted tickets available two hours before the performance; deals for teachers, and more.
