Mondial de la Bière

early June
Montréal, Québec (QC)

Regarded as North America’s most important festival of international beers, and attracting over 80,000 visitors each year, the ever popular Mondial de la Bière is now more than 16 years old, and still going strong.

The Mondial de la Bière festival offers a wide range of events, from beer competitions with respectable prizes and contests with professional tasters, to beer-making demonstrations, and of course, plenty of beer.

One of the highlights of the festival is the presentation of numerous Petit Pubs in which tasters can sample the beers of other nations and their predominant breweries. Countries that have been featured in the past include of course Canada and the local Québec microbreweries and brewpubs Belgium, Brazil, Italy and the USA.

For those interested in learning more about beer, the 5 year old MBeer School of Beerology features experts in the field like Mario D’Eer, Guy Levesque, Tony Forder and Serge Noël who are on hand to help brew lovers appreciate their tipple. But be aware, this is not just a beer drinking fest - serious topics from beer styles to beer making procedures are covered and there is an exam at the end. Applications for the class can be made via

There is no entrance fee to the festival but you will need to buy tickets for the beer. These tasting coupons cost $1 each and most beers will demand anything from 1 - 5 such tasting coupons. You will need cash for the food.

To avoid long lines, it is advisable to purchase ticket packages on line ahead of time if possible.
