A success for over 26 years, the award winning Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival presents exciting contemporary and traditional productions of plays by Shakespeare and his contemporaries - all in large tents on the banks of the beautiful South Saskatchewan River in the heart of Saskatoon.

Previous Shakespeare plays featured at the festival have included The Taming of the Shrew, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, the Comedy of Errors, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, As you like it, Measure for Measure, Love’s Labour’s Lost, Merry Wives of Windsor, The Winters Tale, Richard III, Hamlet, JUlius Caesar and many more.

Along with performances in the mainstage tent which can seat 282, the Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival also offers events like the increasingly popular Medieval Feasts, workshops, tours, art displays, special matinees. and pre- and post-show question and answer periods with the Artistic Director and cast.

Community Showcase Stage showcases a variety of local talent ranging exploring music and dance, improv comedy and live theatre.

The Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival site also features Sir Toby’s Tavern and Riverside Deck – the only riverside tavern in Saskatoon.

A major Canadian tourist attraction, the Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan has also been listed as a Major Festival in the book Shakespeare Festivals Around the World by Marcus D Gregio.
