Top Events Canada – Winter Events and winter festivalsCommemorating the Calgary 1988 Winter Olympics, the Calgary Winterfest, a family oriented event held for 11 days in February, celebrates the fun of winter with live music including multicultural offerings representing the city's various cultures, dance, carnivals, story-telling, snowboarding competitions, ice sculptures and dogsled races as well as professional freestyle skiers showcasing their skills, and aspiring athletes testing their skills in the biathlon and the luge. And at Fort Calgary visitors can enjoy a trip back in time as live entertainment celebrates the former post of the NW Mounted Police.

Scotiabank Calgary Marathon
late May

Top Events Canada – Marathons On August 10, 1963 nineteen men lined up at Glenmore Stadium to run the first Calgary Marathon, and what was also the first marathon ever to be run in Western Canada. More recently voted the 2009 2010 2012 2013 and 2014 Best Road Race in Alberta, the Scotiabank Calgary Marathon is a challenging, competitive and fun event with a race designed for everyone of any level. There is a 50k Ultra, 42.2km, 21,1km, 10 km, 5 km family walk or run and kids' marathon where the half will play host to the 21.1km National Championships until 2018.

Canadian Rockies International Rodeo
late June

Top Events Canada RodeosClassed as one of Canada’s largest gay rodeos, the three-day, Canadian Rockies International Rodeo (CRIR), sanctioned by the International Gay Rodeo Association (IGRA), is an unique three-day rodeo complete with a host of traditional events including bull riding and calf roping, as well as popular ”camp” events, such as goat dressing and wild drag. Unique to this event is the fact that men and women compete in parallel events. The Canadian Rockies International Rodeo also offers a cabaret, live music, olde tyme country carnival, nightly dances and a Saturday parade.
