The most eastern province of Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador features a host of major events and festivals.

Made up of the island of Newfoundland, thousands of small islands, and Labrador on the mainland this province of Canada is host to more than 15 major events and festivals. A major of these is the Cain’s Quest Snowmobile Endurance Race that is regarded as a world class sporting event.

Billed as the “ultimate” in extreme racing, the two-yearly Cain’s Quest Snowmobile Endurance Race (next in 2016) is a world class sporting event covering more than 2500 km and is the longest snowmobile endurance race in Canada. Teams of two riders and their snowmobiles race through the stunning landscapes of Labrador from Labrador City to Churchill Falls-Happy Valley-Goose Bay and back.

Exploits Valley Salmon Festival

Originally a five-day, regional celebration of the migrating Atlantic Salmon, the Exploits Valley Salmon Festival has since become a major international festival highlighting the traditional foods and music of Newfoundland and Labrador attracting visitors from all over the world and has been noted as one of North America’s Top 100 Events by the American Bus Association.

Deer Lake Strawberry Festival

St. John’s Time
late July / beginning August

Four major festivals - George Street Festival, Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival, the Downtown Buskers Festival, and the Royal St. John's Regatta – keep the city hopping for 11 days. George Street is an outdoor-indoor music festival where patrons pay an entrance fee and can wander from venue to venue throughout the evening. The Folk Festival brings together the top folk performers from around the province. The Buskers festivals is family-oriented, despite its name, with lots of street performers. And the Regatta is a day-long series of fixed-seat rowing races on a downtown lake that’s been held the first Wednesday in August since the early 19th century.

Top Events Canada – Film FestivalsA five-day film festival in October, the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival has run for almost a quarter of a century. It is an annual celebration of women film makers around the world and works to facilitate interaction between women filmmakers and between women filmmakers and their audiences. Apart from screenings, the festival also features film forums and workshops as well as a summer film camp for high school students (FRAMED) and a province-wide screening tour (Films On The Go).
